Hair Removal Treatments
Pulsed Light hair removal offers you a lasting solution for unwanted hair. Very similar to laser hair removal, Pulsed Light Systems use a much larger treatment window. The pulsed light travels over a wider area of skin and allows faster coverage of the skin and quicker treatments. The hair removal hand piece emits pulses of light into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted to heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for growing new hair.
Many areas can be treated for hair removal. The upper lip, face, neck, underarms, bikini line, legs, chest and back can all be treated.Your treatment provider will move the hand piece over the skin. Each pulse will send a beam of light through your skin. A flashing light, an audible tone, and a mild sensation on the skin will tell you when the hand piece is being pulsed.
The Pulsed Light System being used at Radiant Touch Studio is the Palomar Starlux 500. Using the leading technology we will be offering the most versatile, effective, and comfortable aesthetic treatments available. Palomar Pulsed Light Systems offer a lasting solution for unwanted hair. Concentrated pulses of light loosen the hair and disable the cells responsible for new hair growth. Small areas, such as the underarms or upper lip can be treated in 10 minutes or less, and large areas, like the back or legs can be treated in under a half hour. Various cooling methods keep the light pulses mild and skin-safe, allowing for more comfortable treatments than electrolysis and waxing. Unlike waxing there is no need to let hair grow out between treatments. You can remain hair free all the time.
The demand for intense pulsed light (IPL) hair removal and hair removal treatments are at an all-time high. This is not surprising, considering that traditional hair removal via electrolysis and waxing is painful and expensive. Light-based hair removal permanently reduces unwanted facial and body hair, in fewer treatments and with more comfort than is possible with traditional procedures.

The Starlux 500 uses specialized hand pieces which filter light to target blood vessels and pigmented lesions. Each band of the spectrum has a wavelength that is ideal for different treatments, such as sunspots removal and vessel clearance. The Photo rejuvenation hand piece emits pulses of light into the skin. The light absorbed by the pigment in sunspots and the blood in visible vessels, which typically fade from view within two weeks.
Most areas except directly around the eyes can be treated. The face, neck, chest, arms, back and legs can all be treated.
During photo rejuvenation treatments we will move the hand piece over your skin. Each pulse will send a beam of light through your skin. A flashing light, an audible tone, and a mild sensation on the skin will tell you when the hand piece is being pulsed. This process uses pulses of light to treat sun damage or wide areas of pigmentation on the face, neck, chest, and other areas. We treat sun spots or pigmented lesions also known as age spots. Rosacea, which is a general inflammation of the cheeks and face and spider veins, red and purple in color can also be treated.

Mary Engstrom R.N. B.S.N., owner of Radiant Touch Studio brings the worlds leading technology in laser/light hair removal and skin rejuvenation to Marblehead, Massachusetts. She also brings eleven years of experience performing clinical treatments.
Mary received her nursing degree from Northeastern University in 1987. She later spent the next ten years in Vermont and Michigan in the critical care pediatric setting. Returning to Massachusetts in 1997, she settled with her family in Marblehead and began her experience in cosmetic lasers by joining her father at Palomar Medical to perform Inservice Trainings to physicians and their staff after purchasing the Epilaser, their Ruby laser system. She later settled into an office site in Danvers, Massachusetts. Mary continued in Danvers performing clinical treatments and training other nurses and electologists in laser/pulsed light practices. Using many systems over the years, she has experience with Ruby, Alexandrite, and Diode lasers and various IPL sytems. She continued her pediatric nursing over the years in addition to her laser background at North Shore Childrens Hospital and with Mass Health in private duty home care for sick and disabled children.
Leaving Danvers in July of 2008, Mary was able to begin the process of developing Radiant Touch Studio. She was approached by a friend who suggested that she bring her experience closer to home. Mary placed her business within Bliss Salon. Bliss, having finished an expansion to their well established salon had a treatment room and reception space perfect for a small clinical practice. Stategically placing her business within a business, Mary was able to bring the leading technology in Laser/Light hair removal and skin rejuvenation systems to Marblehead. This will allow North Shore residents to find quality treatments with experienced nursing staff right in their own back yard. Using Palomar Medicals Starlux 500 Mary offers treatments in hair removal, skin rejuvenation, pigmentation, Rosacea, veins, and soon acne and scar removal.
Mary is excited to be bringing her experience and technology to Marblehead where she resides with her husband and four children.
